Bono in Surprise Appearance in Dublin

Bono made a surprise appearance on stage with Imelda May at the O2 in Dublin last night (16th December).  They performed Desire and Baby (Please Come Home) together, oh to have been in that audience! Bono looking and sounding good, great to see him spending some time back home.

Bono and Edge are The Everley Brothers!

Here the video of Bono and Edge's performance at the O2 in Dublin of Van Diemen's Land . It was recorded ten days ago and shown last night on The View TV programme on RTE. Is Bono's guitar just for decoration? Good percussion work though.

First Performance at Dublin O2

Well Bono and Edge did get there first - they have performed at the new O2 venue (due to open offically next week) in Dublin. Irish radio RTÉ 2FM said that they made a surprise appearance there on Sunday night. They performed two songs, Desire and Van Diemen's Land in the empty arena. The performance was filmed and will aired on the programme The View on RTE Television in the near future. They were also interviewed and discussed the new album and the late Ronnie Drew. Unless you are lucky enough to live in Ireland and see the programme on TV, we'll have to look out for this on the Net over the next few weeks.

U2 for O2?

I was looking up more information on the refurbishment of The Point Depot and one of the things I found out was that it is going to be renamed The O2 (O2 and Live Nation each own 50% of the building). That got me thinking (oh dear!) ..... Remember Paul McGuinness talking about the strong possibility of U2 playing at the O2 and rumours of a residency there? Well everyone assumed that he was referring to the O2 in London, but maybe he really meant the Dublin O2? It would be a great way to open the new venue and on U2's doorstep.

Just a thought, time will tell if I'm way off here or not. Meanwhile below are pictures of the front and rear elevations of the new Dublin O2 (which I'm sure the Irish will continue to call The Point).
